All people deserve to access the healthcare they need, regardless of their income, background, or where they live. FPCI helps connect you to coverage options that support you in making empowered and informed decisions about your health and future.

Iowa Medicaid
Adults can access low-cost or free health insurance through Iowa Medicaid. Once approved, most people are automatically enrolled with a Managed Care Organization (MCO). Three MCOs contract with Iowa HHS to provide medical services to Medicaid recipients: Iowa Total Care, Molina Healthcare, and Wellpoint.
Iowa Medicaid covers people from all walks of life. Single adults making under $21,500 a year or a family of four making under $44,000 a year are eligible.
Learn more about Iowa Medicaid and how to apply by visiting the HHS website.
The Family Planning Program
Don’t qualify for full Iowa Medicaid? You may be eligible for limited health coverage through the Family Planning Program (FPP). Your income, citizenship, and identity must be verified in order to qualify. Services will be immediately available, but it may take up to 30 days for an eligibility determination to be made.
FPP provides family planning services to men and women ages 12-54 making under $46,950 per year for a single adult, or $99,000 for a family of four.
FPP isn’t full Iowa Medicaid – it only pays for a select list of services, including:
- birth control, including IUDs and implants
- sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings and treatment
- pelvic exams, pap tests, and other related services.
Apply for FPP at a family planning clinic or HHS office near you. Any healthcare provider that accepts Medicaid can see you with this coverage, including Title X clinics.*
* Planned Parenthood is excluded from this program.
