We care about your privacy. Thank you for visiting the Family Planning Council of Iowa (FPCI) website and for reviewing our Website Privacy Policy. When you visit our website, we collect only the Information Automatically Collected and Stored (as described below), unless you choose to provide additional information.
Information Automatically Collected and Stored
When you browse through any website, certain personal information about you can be collected. Through our website, we automatically collect and temporarily store the following information about your visit:
- The name of the domain you use to access the Internet (i.e., aol.com, if you are using an American Online account, or uiowa.edu, if you are connecting from the University of Iowa’s domain),
- the date and time of your visit,
- the country where your Internet service provider is based,
- the pages you visited, and
- the referring website address.
We use this information for statistical purposes only and to help us make our site more useful to visitors. Unless it is specifically stated otherwise, no additional information will be collected.
Online Donations and Purchases
If you make an online donation to or purchase material from FPCI, you will be asked for your credit card information. Our donation and purchase pages are stored on a secure server (evidenced by “https://” in the web address) that is designed to protect sensitive information. After you click “submit”, your information is encrypted before being sent to FPCI. FPCI does not receive credit card information; it is processed by third-party vendors. We may receive other information you provide, such as your name and address.
FPCI’s third-party vendors employ SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), the industry standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remains private and accurate.
The information you provide is used only to process donations or materials sales and will not be disclosed, sold, traded, or rented to any other third party.
We encourage you to read more about the security and privacy measures maintained by PayPal, our third-party donation and payment processing vendor.
Protecting Sensitive Information
FPCI defines Sensitive Information related to the use of its website as donation data, requests for assistance, requests for healthcare information, or requests for KISS (reproductive health) kits. Sensitive Information does not include Information Automatically Collected and Stored. There are three primary ways we protect Sensitive Information:
- Information Security: We utilize encryption/security software to safeguard the confidentiality of personal information we collect from unauthorized access or disclosure and accidental loss, alteration, or destruction.
- Information Protection Practices: Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with organization policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality, and quality of our information.
- Employee Access, Training, and Expectations: Our organization values, ethical standards, policies, and practices are committed to the protection of user information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes, and transactions.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that a web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable sites to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. FPCI’s website uses “cookie” messages to automatically help provide better services. They remind FPCI who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you’ve done and told FPCI before. The “cookie” is placed in your computer and is read when you come back to our website. Cookies let FPCI take you to the information and features you’re particularly interested in. They also let FPCI track your usage of our website so we know which parts of the site are most popular. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your web browser accordingly.

FPCI’s site contains links to other sites. These links are provided to help you find information or services that relate to our mission and may be of interest to users of this website. FPCI is not responsible for, and makes no representation regarding, the privacy practices or content of those sites. You should check the policy statements of those websites.
